Khaldoun Abou Khier
Founder of Awareika
Creator of the Turn the Light OM! Method
I spent my life learning how the body moves. Then I discovered that the body can teach us how to live.
My name is Khaldoun Abou Khier, and Awareika was born from a simple but profound question:
What happens when we stop treating the body as something we control—and begin listening to it as something that knows?
My journey has taken me through very different worlds: dentistry and orthodontics, dance and choreography, martial arts, yoga, meditation, and body-oriented approaches to human experience.
At first, these paths seemed separate. Over time, I began to see the connection.
They were all teaching me the same thing:
The human body is not just a physical structure. It is a living language.
My professional education began in dentistry and orthodontics, where I learned to look at the human body with precision.
Structure. Balance. Function. Pressure. Alignment. Connection.
But outside of medicine, another part of me was developing.
For many years, I immersed myself in dance and choreography, particularly Salsa. I performed, competed, organized festivals, and worked with movement as a way of communicating without words.
I also spent years studying Kung Fu, yoga, meditation, and the relationship between physical sensation and emotional experience.
These disciplines gave me something that no single profession could provide: different ways of seeing the same human being.
The scientist sees structure.
The dancer feels movement.
The martial artist understands presence.
The yogi observes breath.
And the human being experiences all of it at once.
I became fascinated by a simple question:
We may know we should relax, trust, communicate, or connect—yet the body can respond differently.
This space between what we know and what we feel led me to explore movement, breath, emotion, awareness, and human connection.
From this exploration, Turn the Light OM! began to emerge.
Turn the Light OM ! is not simply a dance class.
It is not traditional yoga. It is not psychotherapy. And it is not about performing movements correctly.
It is an embodied awareness practice.
The intention is simple:
The body becomes the starting point.
Movement becomes the language.
Breath becomes the bridge.
Awareness becomes the destination.
Each Turn the Light OM! session is a journey through presence, movement, connection, and awareness.
It unfolds through Arrival, Physical Consciousness, Dynamic Meditation Dance, Contact, Heart Speech, Couple Meditative Dance, and Life Awareness— each experience opening a different way to connect with yourself and others.
The goal is not to become a better dancer, but to become more present in your own life.
Modern life keeps us in our heads—thinking, planning, judging, performing. Yet the body often expresses what words cannot.
Awareika creates a space to slow down, listen, move, and reconnect— not to become someone else, but to become more fully yourself.
You don't need to be a dancer, flexible, or experienced in meditation. You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for.
All you need is the willingness to be present.
My role is not to tell you how to live, but to create an experience where you can discover something for yourself— through movement, breath, awareness, and connection.
I want you to leave not simply having learned something new, but having felt something within yourself.
To breathe differently. Move differently. Connect differently. And perhaps become a little more present in your own life.
Turn the Light OM!
One breath. One body. One awareness.
